When this woman was born, she made her parents so happy. She was their first child, and in spite of being a girl, the parents were thrilled.
She grew up, and while growing, she helped her parents take care of five other siblings. She helped them with her school work, helped her mother with house work and made sure to complete her own school work.
She proudly finished her school and did her post graduation as well. In fact, she was the only one in the family to even finish her schooling.
She took up multiple jobs while in college, tutored the colony kids, and even started working at LIC. Her father unfortunately fell ill, and she had to take on a lot of responsibilities. She fought hard and managed to get her family through multiple hurdles.
Soon she got married into a large family and she took up more responsibilities. Her husband had 6 siblings and all of them younger than him. She helped taking care of everyone in the family. Her husband’s grand mom was bed ridden and living with them. Soon his father also suffered from paralysis. But she put on a smile and helped as much as she could. She took care of everyone and everything.
Soon all the siblings got married, and finally there were lesser people in the house. They were planning their family, but luck wasn’t in their favor. After more than 15 years of their marriage, they decided to adopt.
After listening to a lot of taunts from people around, she made up her mind. She walked into an adoption center with her husband, and passed a few cribs. Her eyes fell on a small boy who looked up and smiled at her. He put his hand forward to touch her and she fell in love with him. He was a part of her life, of her family.
She took care of him as her own child. She did everything she could to see him smile. Luck was suddenly in her favor, and soon unexpectedly, she got pregnant.
After over 17 years of their marriage, she was expecting a baby. She couldn’t believe it, even the doctors were surprised. Soon she had a baby girl and she had her own small family. She was over the moon.
She was facing some trouble at home, but always had a brave face on. She met with a bad cat accident where her knee was shattered. she recovered after a major surgery.
Soon, the extended family moved out, and now she was living with her mother-in-law, her husband and kids. They lived happily till one day her mother-in-law fell sick. She was hospitalized and was quite serious.
One day she started complaining of a clot near her breast, and thinking it might be TB, she got it tested. And that’s when she found out she had cancer. She was broken. Her cancer was third stage and her mother-in-law was in the hospital. Her kids were still on school, she didn’t know how to deal with this. She put on her brave face again and rushed to get an operation done where the clot was removed. She underwent chemotherapy and radiation. She dealt with all of it by herself. She went alone for all her appointment’s and god knows how but she was getting through it.
Between all her chemotherapy sessions, her mother-in-law got well and was discharged. Things were getting better. Everyone was happy. Unfortunately, the next day her mother-in-law passed away.
It was a big blow to the family, but she being her, put on a brave face and went on. She fought against the cancer and finally got rid of it. Things started going well, but the next year she was back in the hospital with a knee issue. When she got out of that, the next year, she fell and hurt her forehead. She got over 100 stitches. The accident was quite scary, you could actually see her skull.
She recovered in a while, but the hospital didn’t stay away. Later she was admitted twice again when she got her knee replaced.
Yes, she still had her brave face on. She got her kids through school, college and both of them had started working. Everything was going well, and her son got married.
The daughter in-law came home and in a few years she got pregnant and another girl was born. The family was elated.
Her daughter turned 25 and she celebrated her birthday with her. But, she got a call in the wee hours and heard that her daughter met with a serious car accident. She rushed with her son and took her to the hospital. She stayed in the hospital with her and refused to leave her side. After a week, her daughter came back home and she was finally a little relieved. She took care of her till she fully recovered.
Now she was worried about her daughter’s marriage. After a few years, her daughter got married and moved away. When things were going well, her husband started falling sick a lot. He started losing his memory, and had other told age issues. She put in her life to take care of him.
Her brave face has never come off. She is so strong, she keeps fighting and surviving. She never asked for anything. She always compromised and always tried to make others happy.
This woman has always motivated me to become a better person. She has never put any restrictions on me, she let me make my own decisions and pave my own path forward. She has been such an inspiration. She is my mother, and she is the only person in the world I could do anything for.
She has made me an all rounder, a strong person. Thanks to her, everyone around me thinks I’m smart, I’m a nice and thoughtful person. My mother-in-law thinks I’m brave and I’m very intelligent. I’m also a great cook, all thanks to her.
I think I’m a better human being all thanks to her. But today, sitting miles away from her, knowing what’s on her mind, I feel helpless. I can’t do anything to help her, or just be around.
I try and do whatever I can, but it’s just not enough. Her entire life, she took of care of people around her, but when it was time for someone else to take care of her, I left her alone.
I know she doesn’t think the same way. She is really proud of me, and is very happy for me. She misses me a lot, but she wants me to stay where I am and enjoy my life.
This is what makes her an amazing person. She is so selfless, so kind, so generous, that it’s my life’s goal to be at least 0.1% like her. If I manage that, I would’ve lived a successful life.
I love her. I miss her. More than anything in the world.
